Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Community Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader Special Needs designs, plans and implements recreational activities for summer camp or March break programs for children with disabilities. He/she resolves issues related to accessibility for the participants. He/she will also conduct programs and activities, as required, liaise with summer day camp staff, parents and other service providers, and assist on-duty lifeguards with supervision of children with disabilities during aquatic functions.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Child Development, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field AND some years experience in a related field
OR
College diploma or certificate in Child Development, Physical Education, Recreation or a related field AND some years experience in a related field
OR
High school diploma AND several years experience in a related field
OR
A demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience
AND
Current CPR and basic First Aid qualifications
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training, an asset
HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development certificate, an asset

Language Requirement: English Essential

Experience Requirements:
•In working with children
•In programming activities for children with disabilities or special needs
•In leading children in activities
•In applying safety protocols and procedures

Salary: $15.20/hr

•This process includes a police records check for service with the vulnerable sector
